IMISCOE Congress 2024

Yesterday, we presented our MiM2M project at the #IMISCOE2024 Annual Conference! 🎉 Our panel on multilingualism in providing mental health care was led by Prof Mike Mösko from the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf and Prof Swartz Leslie from Stellenbosch University. Thank you! 



📱Our German PhD student Annika Kreienbrinck from the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf spoke about the use of technological tools to overcome language barriers. 



👩‍⚕️ Houda Al-Kalaf, our PhD student from Utrecht University gave a talk about the development of an intervention to enhance the communication skills of Mental Healthcare Providers and presented findings from her systematic rapid review. 



🌍 Dr. Ovidiu Oltean from Babes-Bolyai University gave insights on Migration and Mental Health in Romania's Rapidly Evolving Migration Landscape. 



🤝 Prof. Brian Hall from NYU Shanghai shared his work on social networks and social support among transnational domestic workers in China. 



💬 Finally, Rowan Madzamba PhD from Stellenbosch University gave a talk on Prolonging Trauma: Language and Mental Healthcare Access for African migrants in South Africa.



Following the presentations, we had an inspiring discussion with our participants and panel discussants Maria Marchetti-Mercer from University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and Loretta Baldassar from Edith Cowan University in Australia. Thanks so much for your valuable input!
